Density and pressure

OCR A AS Physics · 3.2.4

Explore density and pressure within forces in action. Start with the object and draw all forces acting on it. Their vector sum determines acceleration; zero resultant force gives constant velocity, including rest.

Specification outcomes (3)
  • 3.2.4(a) Define density; ρ = m / V.
  • 3.2.4(b) Define pressure; p = F / A for solids, liquids and gases.
  • 3.2.4(c) Use p = hρg to calculate pressure in fluids; understand upthrust and Archimedes’ principle.
