Optics Lab — Mirrors, Refraction & Sensors

Drag mirrors & blocks (choose material), steer the laser to the sensor, and pass a Snell’s law check.
Laser angle
Time Left: 08:00
Rules: Your successful path must include ≥1 reflection and ≥1 refraction before hitting the sensor. Drag to move; select an object for rotate/material/delete controls.

Selected Object

Tap/click a mirror or block to edit.

  • Refraction: \(n_1 \sin i = n_2 \sin r\); critical angle \( \sin c = n_2/n_1 \) (from dense to less dense).
  • Specular reflection: angle of incidence = angle of reflection.
  • Optical materials: refractive index at visible wavelengths (~589 nm).

Tips

  • Drag items to move them. Tap to select then rotate with buttons.
  • Blocks bend light; choose their material in the Selected Object panel.
  • Use mirrors to change direction; combine with blocks to reach the sensor.
  • Press Test Ray to run the trace; if it hits the sensor, you must also answer a Snell check for the first interface used.
